A deep ocean-blue, a happy sunbeam yellow
Two vibrant flowers, fell in love.
They scoured the spring together, petals intertwined
In rainy times they took cover, in thunderous times they sacrificed
Lost a petal after petal, like autum, drained out of color
They were lifeless, they couldn’t bare, the naked thorns by summer
–
After a long long winter, in new gardens they bloomed, far from each other
They watched from a distance, the butterflies, the happy flutter!
Something stirred deep inside, that existed against their will
The longing to be together, and knowing very well
A wound that once bled, stains, it doesn’t disappear
They are beautiful flowers apart, they’re not, when they’re near
